Abersoch is a beautiful seaside village around forty minutes’ drive from Garreg Goch Holiday Park on the Pen Llyn Penninsula. This former fishing village, is a popular and fashionable favourite for young people and families, with its’ five beaches and lively holiday atmosphere. The sheltered harbour attracts people who enjoy boats, jet skis, canoes and paddle-boards. Watersports activity centres abound in this area, so you don’t need to bring your own equipment, just turn up and enjoy the fun.
The beaches are beautiful here with golden sands to relax on and lots of facilities nearby to make your day more enjoyable. In addition, there are six circular walks ranging from nine miles to just one mile, which can be taken from Abersoch, making this a great place to visit with a dog. In the summer there are regular sporting and music activities in the village, such as the annual Jazz Festival, the Music Festival and the Regatta. Triathlons, running and swimming competitions are also a regular part of life in Abersoch keeping the vibe lively and ever-changing.
Apart from all the one-off events hosted here, Abersoch is a lovely place to come for people wanting a lively day anytime of year during their holiday week, as there are lots of great bars, cafes and restaurants to choose from. There are also boat trips and pony trekking to enjoy here as well as many other activities which can be arranged in activity centres in Abersoch. Beach huts can be hired from the beach cafes by the day or the week, a great place to watch all the watersports and beach life from in the privacy of a wooden chalet with vintage charm.
Not far away there are also surfing beaches at Porth Ceriad which has high surf beaches, and Porth Neigwl (Hell’s Mouth) where there is consistent surf, towering cliffs and powerful swells great for experienced surfers. Here the full force of the Atlantic makes the location a wild and invigorating place for a walk.
