Black Rock Sands lies a short walk away from Garreg Goch Holiday Park and can be accessed along a footpath which leads directly from the park. A 10 minute stroll leads through a hedgerow lined path making the beach perfect for an early morning run, a barbeque or a trip to watch the sunset. The beach can be parked on directly with its’ own special zone for water bikes and designated areas for dogs. It has a strict 10MPH speed limit and washroom facilities providing the perfect spot local to Garreg Goch for a day spent on the beach.

This beautiful beach is unique in its’ rich marine life and it is a Site of Special Scientific Interest because of the variety of wildlife in its’ dunes. It has majestic cliffs, caves, rock pools, and an open, wide, sandy beach. At low tide walkers can pass the huge Black Rock which gives the beach its’ name to walk round to the quiet stretch of sand and shingle which leads to the village of Criccieth. The views along Black Rock Sands and Criccieth Beach are spectacular, with Criccieth Castle commanding a majestic place on a hill above the sea and the coast stretching up towards Abersoch behind it.

In the opposite direction, heading along Black Rock Sands towards Porthmadog, the beach becomes gradually quieter with the dunes and the mountains on the left and the amazingly picturesque views over towards Harlech across the seas to the right. This leads to a boardwalk over the headland to Samsons Bay which marks the start of the Glaslyn Estuary and a beautiful coastal path through wildflowers and overhanging trees to Borth Y Gest. The path takes twists and turns with sheltered beaches and secret coves which can be easily explored below.

Black Rock is the perfect place for a day at the seaside, with beautiful views, amazing wildlife, spectacular views and wonderful walks and all of this being so close to Garreg Goch Holiday Park, makes this and idyllic place to spend a holiday.
