Alternatively, a short drive from Garreg Goch will lead you along an undulating, winding country lane with outstanding views of coast and countryside taking just twenty minutes by car to reach the charming coastal village of Criccieth.

Perched at the top of Cardigan Bay, the views here spread across the Llyn Pennninsula from Harlech right up to Anglesey. Criccieth has pebble and sand beaches extending out from the main beach in both directions. One side leads back to Black Rock in the direction of the Garreg Goch, with sand, pebbles and rock-pools to explore and the chance to take an hour to make the beautiful beach walk back to your holiday home. The other side is quieter, with views of the North Wales coast and is great for a walk or a day sunbathing and playing on the beach. The main beach is a convenient spot for families with children to spend a day, with its’ gently shelving shoreline and close proximity to lots of amenities.

However, it’s the Ancient Castle looking down from its’ hilltop position over all this beauty, which is the star attraction in Criccieth. Built and destroyed by Welsh Royalty, the history of this beautiful relic on a rocky headland which juts out majestically between two beaches, is fascinating. A holiday at Garreg Goch is not complete without a trip to Criccieth Castle with its’ visitor centre and its’ stunning remains. Adventure up to the castle grounds to be rewarded with the same spectacular views of the coast that were enjoyed by our ancient Welsh forefathers, who so closely guarded the castle in battle themselves.
